If anyone tells you they have the perfect relationship – be wary; they are probably hiding something. All relationships come under strain; periods of silence, arguments and lack of trust are ever-present; they can be used creatively to develop relationships – if we are open and honest about them and talk through the problems in a safe and supportive way or they can destroy a relationship. Open and honest communication is the essence of building good relationships, romantic or otherwise.
